11.1 Conservation of Matter
In the atmosphere, various pollutants interact with the components to create new substances, i.e., a chemical reaction occurs. The overarching theme in chemical reactions: Law of Conservation of Mass; matter cannot be created or destroyed. Though mass could be compared in the lab, most of the time, chemical reactions do not included masses before and after. This is why all chemical reactions need to be balanced (MINOH). Review the notes, answer the flipped questions, and practice with the simulation as often as necessary.
Quick reminder of how to balance chemical equations and review of MINOH.
The atmosphere has a specific composition, directly related to its history. Focus on the composition and related function at each level.
