The gas laws are based on the interaction of pressure, temperature, and amount of gas upon the volume. Each of these interactions were empirically (experimentally) derived.

Gases are very different from liquids and solids. This is just a quick review of Kinetic Theory and introduction to units of pressure in case you need it. However, you must know the units of pressure and how they are related to each other (like 760 mmHg = 1 atm): this means take that section of notes here or use your textbook.
