Unit 5: Skeletal System
|
5.1 Axis & Appendicular Skeletons
Name the components of the axial and appendicular skeletons and their functions
- explain the function of depressions and projections
- name the depressions and projections of the femur, humerus, scapula, and coxa
- name the bones of the skull
- discuss the difference in structure and function of the various vertebrae
- relate the structural differences between the pectoral and pelvic girdles to their functional roles
- distinguish between male and female pelvic girdles
5.1 a Chapter 5 Lab a
5.1b Axial Skeleton
Recommendation: get the diagrams & rough notes from the slide show, then add the stuff from the screencast...yeah, the catching-flies-screencast.

Remember, you need to pay close attention to the surface features on the scapula & humerus (upper) as well as the femur & coxa (lower). In addition, do not forget to keep in mind (1) the connections between form & function; and (2) the anatomical differences between male and female skeletons.

5.2b Chapter 5 Lab b
5.3 Articulations
- Describe the dynamic movements of the skeleton and the structure of representative articulations
- Distinguish among different types of joints and link structural features to joint function
5.3a Chapter 5 Lab c
5.3b Joints
Notice that joints are classified by structure and function, so, create a chart to organize this.
